Val 2.0 (4.8)

Location: Ulica Don Cvjetka Marasovića 1, Vis, Island of Vis 21480 Croatia

Working hours: 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Distance from the villa: 7-minute drive

Val began as a small, humble family business, but over the years, it has grown into one of the most visited fish restaurants on the entire island.

Head chef Darko Ćuk, who has more than 25 years of experience, is known for preparing fresh seafood and Mediterranean dishes. The kitchen uses only local olive oil and vegetables from their garden, while in your glass, you’ll find some of the finest house wines.

The restaurant offers amazing sea views, and it’s perfect for a family lunch or romantic late-night dinner. Some of the dishes that guests keep mentioning in glowing reviews are the octopus salad, their famous tuna tataki, sea bass, as well as the simple yet delicious pasta carbonara.

You should probably book ahead during July and August when Vis is the busiest.

Restaurant Boccadoro (4.7)

Location: Ul. Petra Hektorovica 2, Vis, Island of Vis 21480 Croatia

Working hours: 6:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Distance from the villa: 8-minute drive

Boccadoro is a charming restaurant located in the centre of Vis, known for its rustic atmosphere. It’s hidden inside an old house, and many tourists say that it’s better than the most popular and expensive ones in Split.

Every dish here is at an exceptional level, and it’s hard not to eat too much, but we strongly recommend trying it, because the desserts here receive the most compliments. It seems that the star of the evening is their avocado & lime pie.

From the main dishes, Sea bass, tuna steak in sesame, and salted & pepper squid should be mentioned, as well as Beetroot “ravioli” with goat cheese for an appetizer. Meat lovers won’t stay hungry. Beef fillet and pork belly with soy & honey are also excellent.

Because of the limited number of tables and its growing popularity, making a reservation is recommended, particularly in the evening, during the summer season.

Location: Šetalište Viški Boj 13, Vis, Island of Vis 21480 Croatia

Working hours: 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM

Distance from the villa: 8-minute drive

Frutarija is a seaside bar-bistro with one of the most beautiful views in Vis. Here you can enjoy the view of the bay between Vis and Kut. It’s a favourite spot for breakfast and brunch, but also a cocktail in the evening. Konoba Bilka (4.5)

Location: Mijurovac 16, Vis, Island of Vis 21480 Croatia

Working hours: 4:30 – 10:00 PM

Distance from the villa: 4-minute walk

Konoba Bilka is hidden near the port of Vis, and it’s set in a stone courtyard shaded by lemon and olive trees. It’s one of those places that gives you the feeling of dining in a garden of a really good friend rather than in a restaurant. It’s warm, intimate, and authentically Dalmatian.

The menu has traditional recipes and dishes prepared over a stone grill. The most popular ones are the veal or green risotto, grilled swordfish, and tender lamb. Portions are generous and prices noticeably lower than in some objects along the promenade.

If you’d like to try the famous peka dishes, make sure to order them in advance, as it takes several hours to prepare. For dessert, the lemon cake gets a lot of praise, and if you’re into light, fruity cakes, you won’t regret ordering it.

Konoba Kantun is a long-time favourite among visitors, especially for those who care more about quality over a lengthy menu. Located right by the sea on the Kut waterfront, it has a relaxed Dalmatian atmosphere, but always fresh ingredients and meals of a Michelin-star restaurant quality. The menu is intentionally short, but anything you decide to order would be exceptional.

The most praised dishes in Kantun are octopus goulash and cuttlefish risotto. You can also opt for a catch of the day, which will be brought to your table so you can choose your fish before it goes on the grill. Positive reviews about the exceptional white fish dishes and the homemade fish pâté are frequent.

Grilled vegetables and potatoes also get frequent compliments, and for wine, many recommend pairing your seafood with local Vugava.

Konoba Stončica (4.4)

Working hours: 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Distance from the villa: 16-minute drive

Stončica is one of the best beaches on Vis Island, and this konoba of the same name is an ideal way to end your day at the beach with a delicious meal.

The kitchen focuses on traditional Dalmatian dishes prepared over an open grill. Reviewers repeatedly praise the fish “brudet”, grilled fresh fish, shrimps, and meat from the BBQ. Everything is simple, local, and full of flavour. Portions tend to vary according to reviews (some find them generous, others on the smaller side), but the overall impression is that the food is fresh, tasty, and worth trying at least once while staying on the island.

The setting is what people remember most: a laid-back beach konoba surrounded by nature, with friendly staff and a calmer vibe. Expect a slightly higher bill due to the exclusive location right on the beach, but trust us that the experience more than justifies it.

It’s a great spot for a leisurely dinner with friends or a long lunch. Because of the cozy atmosphere and friendly, helpful service, many guests come back year after year.

Fresh, locally caught fish and seafood are a major focus of the kitchen, which is based on traditional island recipes. The octopus dishes, tuna tartare, and the famous “brodetto” served with polenta are often praised by guests. It’s part of the experience to select your fish from a tray before it’s placed on the grill, and reviews frequently praise how flavorful and well-cooked it is.

For the dessert, there are many options, but a local cookie called Viške Cviti is often a perfect fit with the wine of the house after a generous meal.

The homemade bread and selection of local wines also receive a lot of guests’ compliments, especially their Vugava, which goes excellently with seafood.
